Washi Tape Craft Ideas

I love washi tape! They come in so many different colors and patterns that it's hard to pick just one. (That's why we tend to have quite the collection at our home.) Basically, washi tape is just printed masking tape. It is easy to use and my daughter and her friends have made many crafts with it. Here are some ideas when you need a quick craft to fill up one of those quiet summer afternoons.

In the dollar section of many craft stores, you can find these wooden letters. Decorate your wooden letter with washi tape by wrapping the tape around.

Again, in the dollar section, you can buy plastic tubs, bins or baskets. My daughter decorated the below plastic basket last summer with her cousins. As you can tell by the wear, she uses her basket a plenty. It is her book holder and her most recent reads are in her basket on her night table.

Another idea - decorate clothes pins. With washi tape, the plain, old clothes pins now have some style. You can use your updated clothes pins to help decorate your home.

You can also decorate picture frames with washi tape. This would make a fun project at a family reunion. The kids could decorate frames and then take a cousin picture for it.

So, the next time you reach for that bottle of paint, think washi tape instead. It is an easy, cleaner substitute and makes for great kid crafts!
